Hello,

I didn't see a category for troubleshooting, so put my query here.

From time to time I shoot video with my Rogue, saving the files to a memory card.

About 80 or 90 percent of the time, the videos play back fine. But once in a while, I get an "unavailable" message, and if I try to copy the file to my computer, I get a message that the file is corrupted. Naturally, that problem makes me nervous about using the video feature for fear something important will be lost.

Does anyone know of a way to recover or repair these damaged files? Or to stop the problem from happening in the first place? Do I need to buy a new memory card? Is a particular brand recommended?

Thanks,
Bill

I'd say something's wrong with your phone for occasionally making corrupt files, and/or some connections like with external miniSD card.  I've gotten the message only once or twice, but it seemed to fix itself when I browsed later, at least I don't think I lost a video/picture yet.  And when you try to copy the file and get that message, does it still let you?  If not, try a couple ways to download it from phone to pc, and move it on the phone too.
Once you get it to your pc, you can try to run some applications on it.  I know just opening VLC on it can detect some errors and have a repair feature, but that may just be for avi's.
Sometimes the phone just needs a good restart, or a software refresh, which you may be able to ask support about.  But if it continues to happen a lot, get the phone replaced.

Thanks for the ideas. After not hearing from anyone on this or another forum for several days, I simply replaced the memory card with a brand new, blank one, and formatted it for the phone. Then, yesterday, as it happens, I shot a bunch of videos, and none of them was corrupt. So the memory card apparently was the issue.
