I'm guessing there won't be any updates for a few weeks now.
Because it's so new they will probably have a few little problems that they will fix with a future software update.

If you want to check for an update yourself just go to: settings & tools> phone info> software update> check new

So are these the same updates that you get when you take the phone into the VZW store?

If this phone's anything like the Dare then the software update feature on the phone is useless.
Out of the about, 5, updates on the Dare none of them were available on the phone, you had to take your phone to the Verizon store to get the update.
Hopefully the Rogue actually gets the updates on the phone!

Direct updates would be sweet! Doesn't make sense why that feature would even be on the phone if it doesn't even work!

I thought one of the selling points of the Rogue was the supposed "over the air" updates? Was I reading it wrong?

I may be wrong, but I believe you can't do over the air firmware updates, which is a core element to the OS. I believe the "over the air updates" meant for apps.

Pretty sure the phone has to be powered off to flash the firmware (SMEs will chime in to correct me if I'm wrong).

I just hit the Verizon store CS a couple times a year and have them flash my phone .... though I will say it's scrambled my contacts more than once.

I stopped in my Verizon store a couple days ago as I have had my phone heat up remarkably on more than one occasion and I mentioned it to one of the associates.

He said that Samsung "knows" about the phone heating up and there have been other people who have experienced the same thing, but he also told me that supposedly Samsung maybe putting out an update for the phone in a couple months.

Another different associate also mentioned that because most of the google apps from Google.com don't work with the phone(google maps), Samsung maybe putting out updates for the OS around Christmas time as they are trying to push the phone for the holiday.

So an update can correct such an issue as the battery heating up?
