Got my Rogue a few days ago and love it. I've downloaded a dozen or so MP3 ringtones, copied them to the My Ringtones folder on the SD but when I browse to it on the phone, it says "No Ringtones". Pics worked just fine. Is there something special I need to do to them to get them to be seen by the phone?

The Ringtones can not be used from the MicroSD card.......

This issue has been covered here quite a few times in depth and many threads, but I have a few minutes so I'll toss some pointers your way...  You may want to read through some of our threads here as there loaded with all kinds of very useful information you can use..........

Below is a list of the folders created by the Rouge and their uses....

my_contacts  .... Your contacts can be backed up here (as .vcf files) Outlook Use
my_files         .... .txt, .doc, .docx, .xls, .pdf files can be placed here and read with the phones file reader.
my_flix          .... Place video files here
my_music      .... Place your .mp3 music files here.. no sub folders
my_pix          .... Place pictures and wallpapers here
my_ringtones .... You CAN NOT put ringtones here.. Phone will NEVER use or see them
my_sounds    .... You CAN NOT put sound files here.. Phone will NEVER use or see them

The best way to get Ringtones onto your Rogue is to go to your favorite email address and send them to your self as an email with an attachment  ...> address it to... younumber@vzwpix.com  (include area code)

Ringtones sent in this manner should be kept to 30 seconds or under in length ...  you can send (3) Ringtones at a time using method.   Once received by the phone.. while the 'Tone is playing Tap options... You can save as a Ringtone or as a Sound.. I usually save them both ways.  As if you ever want to share the 'Tone with a friend, you can send a picture message to your friend and attach a 'sound' to it right from your phone...  They in turn can save it as a Ringtone......

If you need further assistance help.. please feel free to ask...........................

Thanks for the info. Seems weird that there is a My_Ringtones folder on the card but you can't use it. I did email a couple to myself but it's a pain to do that one at a time. Seems like there would be a way to move the ringtone files to the Phones memory from the Card Memory. Again thanks Axis

The "lockdown" on the my_ringtones & my_sounds folders is more then likely a Verizon request or stipulation to Samsung...    Verizon wants to make every cent is can off us...  If its too easy for users to put Ringtones on our phones, they figure we wont  "BUY" Ringtones from them @ .99 cents a pop.... They figured incorrectly Smiley

There is no lockdown by Verizon. The Rogue doesn't have the ability to use an mp3 as a ringtone. You need to download a .qcp ringtone and then you can place it in the ringtones file on your sd card. They will work then. I found a converter for mp3 to qcp and I have put numerous ringtones on my phone. The only problem is, the software is a trial version so you only get 30 conversions before it wants you to buy it. I wouldn't have even tried it if it wasn't from cnet's website. Here's the link: http://download.cnet.com/QCP-Converter/3000-2140_4-10547864.html I found another website that allows you to upload/convert/download right from their site, but I have yet to get it to work (but I was also trying large files).

Gee, I have about 35 plus .mp3 Ringtones on my Rouge....  as well as a few .qcp type files... but really why is it you think you cant use .mp3's... ALMOST everyone here on the site has been using  .mp3's on their Rogues without a problem....

You better do some more research there....  Smiley  If you had bothered to read through the threads here on the site, You would be aware of this.  You would also be aware of the converting software that we all use...     We have even posted a few personal share links to our .MP3 Ringtones for anyone to download and use ...

Any of the regulars here want help this fella out, Please do...  Smiley

Have Fun ........

I was talking about the Rogue not having the ability to use mp3s as a ringtone when you place them in the ringtone folder on your sd card. Sorry, I mis-spoke. When I placed a mp3 in the folder, it didn't show up on my phone...but when I placed a qcp ring-tone in the folder...it did and I was able to use it. Feel free to send a link to the forum that contains the information on how to use a mp3 as a ringtone with out going through that pain in the butt process of e-mailing it to yourself that you mentioned before or the painful process of converting as I have had to do.

I belive all of the ringtones I have are mp3's not sure about the 2 I got from Axis. But I do know that the ringtones I do have are stored on the phone and not my sd card. That might be the reason.

This User / Member is 100% Correct....

I just converted an .mp3 Ringtone into this .qcp format, Placed it on the MicroSD Card and the phone picked it right up.. Went to 'my ringtones' on the phone and it was at the top of my list..   Though when I played it.. it sounded horrid... going to look into a better converter........

Update : The two Converters I have used so far 'QCP Converter' and 'RingTone Gold'.. both convert to this format and both 'tones sounded 'Horrid' after conversion.... Tried different bit rates... volume / intensity setting.. still yuko!!

My question to you AnathemaAnimus,  Do the 'Tone's you've converted to .qcp format sound 'Horrid' Huh Real flat, no tonal quality at all and lower then normal volume even when enhanced?Huh

What did you use to Convert??? I went to Sony Sound Forge first and it wont save in that .qcp format...
I know there are a ton of others......

I used Tone This (http://www.tonethis.com/) which allows you to select the specific section of an mp3 you want to use and the length you want, which is nice....but it seems a little quiet. Might need to tweak the settings....or could be it's not good software. I also used QCP Converter (http://download.cnet.com/QCP-Converter/3000-2140_4-10547864.html) and it worked great, but also didn't use songs, just mp3 tones I downloaded from some other site. Suggestions on how to get quality sounding song ringtones is more than welcome!

Try Audacity. You can change all the settings in the tones to make them louder or quieter. Just make sure you also install Lame or you won't be able to export the tones and use them.

As for a converter, I use AVS when needed, though I tend to not convert and just use MP3.

Do you know if there is a file size, file name, tone length, etc. limit.  I tried putting a .qcp file that I had in the my_ringtones directory on the SD card, then went to Media Center >> Music & Tones >> My Ringtones, but the .qcp file does not show up.  Am I missing a step?

I think that it did not work because I am an idiot.  I just tried it again and it worked.  I think I originally did something intelligent like copy an mp3 file to the SD card with a .qcp extension.
