Just curious to see how you guys set up your home screen on your Rogue... i've seen this in other forums and figure - why not! If you're not sure how to do it, here are some steps!

1. You need to download QPST. Make sure your phone is connected via USB and in modem mode!!

2. QPST has a program called Display Capture that downloads with it.

3. Make sure QPST can detect your phone, first by running QPST configuration. If you need the drivers, you can get 'em here: http://www.vzam.net/vcastmusic/Step3.aspx?modelID=35&driverFile=SamsungUSBDriver_4_40_7_0_v1_6.zip (make sure you reboot after install and make sure your phone isn't plugged in while installing)

4. Open Display Capture on your PC and then click on "capture"

5. Then "save as" and make sure you add .jpg to the end of the file if Display Capture doesn't do it for you. (I also had an issue where I didn't have a temp folder in my C:\ so you may have to create one)

6. Save the image and post pics here :-)

7. Enjoy!

Here is where you can get it: http://www.x-drivers.com/catalog/flash/mobile_phones/companies/qualcomm/models/qpst/12051.html

QPST lets you access and modify the raw file system of the phone. Bitpim does also, however for phones that it understands it also will let you upload and download contacts, calendar, wallpaper, ringtones, call history, SMS without you having to understand the details of how the phone works, less chance of messing up your phone.

I was just thinking today that it would be nice to be able to get a screenshot from my Rogue.  Will it allow a screenshot from any menu within the Samsung OS?  Or just the home screen/desktop?

SS- does your phone not say Verizon Wireless on the top? You got it off? I don't see it on your screen shot.

rowancy, mine doesn't have "Verizon" anywhere on the main screen either, and never did.  There is a Verizon logoed desktop background that is all black.  That came with the phone if that is what you have maybe.

"Verizon Wireless" at the top of the main screen is supposed to mean you are on a Verizon network. When it's not there, it means you are on an extended (non Verizon) network.

You can change the color of the font, but I don't recall being able to change whether it's there or not - unless you hacked the phone.

Thats called an ERI banner and can be removed at will.... or you can change the Color..

Tap Menu....> Tap Settings & Tools.....> Tap Display Settings....> Tap Banner
Tap 2 (ERI BANNER) You can turn it on & off here...  Or change its color...  It's Not really  needed.. Serves no function except it advertises 'Verizon Wireless'

At one time it was used to say 'Roaming' if you were roaming or 'Verizon Wireless' if you were in a home area...  My last (3) phones, this banner did nothing...

When I travel it never says 'Roaming' though my Indicator on the top bar (triangle) appears as it should..

Anyone???

Edit Note: ERI = Enhanced Roaming Indicator

So that's what ERI banner is!!!  I have mine turned off so that's why mine's never shown up.  Thanks Axis!!

To get this thread back on track, I'm downloading QPST now- extremely slow download at 10kb/second.

Yea, I was gonna say. The banner is optional and doesn't mean anything, Verizon or extended network or not. But, follow Axis' directions and you can remove it :-P

Just beware - don't mess with things you don't know about - LOL!

Just saying since I received a PM stating "I had brass ones for posting about the program... and I am advocating and encouraging users of varied/limited computed savviness to use a program that has potential of changing settings on their phone - that very well may end up bricking it"

Though i am only informing those who want to learn, how to do it. LoL!

Just to let everyone know - if your phone gets messed up because you wandered around and tried to mess with other things than what I stated, it ain't my fault, lol - and if you follow my instructions you shouldn't have a problem with anything else since you're not even going into the file system, you're using Display Capture. Though you DO need to run QPST to detect the phone...
