I've been reading the posts here, and it looks like pretty much everyone thinks the best way to get your self-created ringtone on the Rogue is to email it to yourself.  Isn't there another way?  I've formatted the SD card, but it won't even acknowledge the .mp3 is there.  We didn't buy the text message option for this phone, because it's my husband's and he can't spell anything, so he doesn't want to text Roll Eyes  I realize it wouldn't be that expensive to send the file, but there has got to be another way!

We already have the .mp3 (it's around 16 seconds long), and it's exactly what he wants to use--so how do we do it?  Suggestions?  If I plug the phone in to the computer, will it acknowledge the phone memory & let me upload the sound?  Sorry--I just thought of this option, and my husband just left for work  Embarrassed  If this will work, do I put it in My Sounds or My Ringtones?  (My phone is the EnV Touch, and I have to put all the ringtones I want to use on the card in the My Sounds folder, so these phones are completely opposite to each other! Shocked)

I know one post here says this topic has been thoroughly discussed, but I can only find 2 pages of topics/threads about ringtones, and none of them discuss this particular question.  So, I'm sorry for yet another post, but I can't find/access anything that helps me.  Many, many thanks for your advice!

The only way to get a ringtone to your phone other than buying it direct from Verizon is to send it to Yournumber@vzwpix.com and save as a ringtone. This is the only way. To date no one has figured out another way.

There is another way. I am using it because the email option was not working for me. You can add them through Bitpim. It is slightly more challeging and you could probably screw up your phone, but if you follow these directions you should be fine. I orginally had to do this for my old Samsung u520. I took these directions from someone on another forum and tweeked them in a few places to make it easier/safer to do.

Here is how to in BitPim:
What you need.
1. U960 phone VZW
2. Bitpim
3. USB cable for Rogue

Download and start Bitpim.

Phone Settings.
Make sure your phone drivers are installed. After you connet your phone to your computer and the external memory screen comes up, hit the end key. Bitpim may take a minute but it should say "Other CDMA phone on COM# - Detected" in the bottow right corner.

Select Filesystem (hit the plus sign to expand folder and navigate to -
/ -> Brew -> Mod -> 18067 ->
Right click where the files are listed and selcet "new file".
Dump all the sound files you want here (ones edited with Audacity or even full songs).
When your done, right click on the file section again and select "reboot phone".
After it reboots, go into the same folder on Bitpim and navigate to MsInfo.db
Right click and save to computer
Open with Word pad
All of the files you have added will end with a "0" and you will need to change it to a "5". Dont worry about changing anything with the preloaded files.

Follow the examples below.

/ff/brew/mod/18067/file name with extension goes here|0|5

Example of what finished file should look like

/ff/brew/mod/18067/SCH-U960_PRELOADED_BIRTHDAY.mid|0|0
/ff/brew/mod/18067/SCH-U960_PRELOADED_CLAPPING.mid|0|0
/ff/brew/mod/18067/SCH-U960_PRELOADED_RAINFOREST.mid|0|0
/ff/brew/mod/18067/SCH-U960_PRELOADED_ROAR.mid|0|0
/ff/brew/mod/18067/SCH-U960_PRELOADED_TRAIN.mid|0|0
/ff/brew/mod/18067/Civ.mp3|0|5
/ff/brew/mod/18067/03 - Motion City Soundtrack.mp3|0|5
/ff/brew/mod/18067/09 - Shrooms.flac.mp3|0|5
/ff/brew/mod/18067/Chain me RING.mp3|0|5

Save the file and go back to Bitpim and right click the MsInfo.db file and select overwrite, and overwrite it with the file saved on your computer.

Then Reboot the phone and they will all show up in the sounds folder and can be set as ringtones.

There is no limit to file size or quality.

Good Luck!

Attached is a photo of the folder you will be working in Bitpim with.

For images, you can use the USB cord & Mass storage option to drag/drop into the phone. You can send them via email but it is not necessary with images only ringtones.
