Ok, this is a weird one.  It's happened to me twice now.  This time I can't get it to recover.  Here's what happened.

1. listening to music in the car using a tape converter plugged into the 3.5m jack.
2. Call comes in and I answer without unplugging the 3.5m jack.
3. I can hear the caller through the car speakers but, without a mic, they can't hear me.
4. Unplug 3.5m jack without hanging up or hitting any other keys.

Phone audio is now locked to the 3.5m jack and I can't get it to recover  Angry

Tried the following:
o took out the battery for a few minutes
o *228 option 1

Called VZW.  Tech suggests we reset the phone to factor defaults.  That means I'll lose all my custom settings.  I'm willing to try this but would like to avoid the PITA if I can.

Any other, less intrusive, suggestions?

Just a thought...Put the 3.5plug in. Have someone call the phone, Take out plug then answer the phone. Worth a Try.

You might try this also..Even though it might not have anything to do with it. Go to settings and tools, Call settings, tty mode Turn on see if that helps if it does then turn off and see if it goes back.

Thanks for both suggestions JP.  Unfortuantely neither worked.

I think the damn 3.5m jack is mechanically stuck.  It thinks there is a headphone jack installed even when one isn't there.

I can't connect to a bluetooth headset either.  I get:
Quote
Bluetooth is not available. Remove earphone.

It's beginning to look like a hardware problem.

Sorry to hear this. You might try plugging in and out the phone jack. Wish I can help but this is above me. I'm no expert by far.

To me,  It sounds like something inside the 3.5m jack is stuck...............

My Rogue just did the exact same thing! I had noticed that the keypad sounds were not working a few days ago and thought "no biggie, I probably just turned them off." Yesterday, I was trying out a new pair of headphones I got for Christmas and was listening to the music player. Shut it down normally and unplugged the jack. Presto chango, no speaker sounds, just headphone jack sound enabled.

The keypad sounds must have been something different. It still makes the startup and shutdown sounds so the speaker still works.

I took it into my VZ store and they surmised it needs replaced. You think? It's a brick that texts now! Unfortunately, since it is after the holidays our town is out of Rogue's! Have to get one shipped to me which is a bummer because my wife is having surgery on Tuesday!

Thought I'd share in case anybody else experiences this.

Called VZW back this morning.  They agreed that the headphone jack was defective.  Since I only got the phone this past October it was still under warrantee.  A new phone is on its way.
