At the risk of asking a previously asked question, why is my touch screen acting up? I press menu, the contacts icon activates. I press message, the contacts icon activates, dialer still works right so far. I try to erase message, contacts come on. Heaven forbid I activate the widget bar. It only goes away if I shut the phone off for a few minutes. I've had the phone since Oct. 09 and no problems except the phone doesn't ring, it vibrates and talks to me about incoming message. I'll try taking it in this week to the store. Maybe they can help if no one here knows what to do. Thanks for any suggestions. I'm new here. kkd

This is getting weird. This am it worked fine, two hours later acting up again. This can't be good. Does this sound like a software problem or 'get a new phone' problem? Huh

I've been having the same problem for about a month and my phone's only 7 months old. Turning off the phone doesn't necessarily help and it seems to resolve itself occasionally, but I've found no way to get rid of it other than hoping it stops glitching before I have to use it again.  I was wondering if you've found a solution or if someone else has?

did you try turning it off and pulling the battery for a couple minutes? (try turning it on w/ the battery out) this will drain the electrical  system of any residual charge and might just be the fix you are looking for

I too had the touch screen problem; everything 'worked' just no touch response.  So I feared I would have to send the phone in without copying over my contacts and (more importantly) pictures.  To add to the problem, with the touch working there is no way to erase all my user information.  So I thought.  I decided to google around to see how difficult it might be to open the phone up and basically swap the guts out into my replacement phone, thereby allowing me to save all my info and reset/clear the phone before it gets sent back to verizon.

YES, it is possible to basically use the screen of the new 'replacement' phone to do what you need.

First, follow the guide (located here http://www.samsung-rogue.com/general-samsung-rogue-discussions/has-anyone-took-apart-their-rogue-apart-yet/) that takes you through the process of opening up your phone.  Obviously you don't need access to your keyboard...

First is a picture with notes on how to avoid breaking the small panel that goes around the camera/speaker area.

The second picture shows (bad flash, but I cant take credit for any of the pics) where the small screen connector is.

After that is off, with the phone still laying battery side up, simply lift up on the 'board' that you popped the connector off of, and it will separate from the entire phone shell.  You should have in your hand the main board of the phone.

Now just do the same to the replacement phone, transfer all your stuff to your microSD card, reset/erase the old phone and then put it all back together.

When you are ready to pop the screen connector back on, make sure that all the screw holes are lined up properly, the keyboard is closed and gently press it back on. (you will feel/hear it click on).

I really hope this helps someone who is stuck with a touch screen that stopped working or responding.

Josh

I just successfully transfered all data from bad Rogue to the new Rogue, by following Mr_Joshua's post. Here are few more notes from me.
The screen connector "plug" is barely visible in the photo below. It took me a while to realize this was a "plug on" type connector. In the photo the "connector" is identified by the black rectangle with the arrow pointing to it. You will need to pry this up, to disconnect it.

Then at this point as Mr_Joshua says, you will now be able to lift out the main phone guts and carry it over to the new phone.

After "plugging in" the guts board to the new good phone, I laid the battery in the place and then 'held' it against the battery connector to power up the phone.

I first had to FORMAT the " BRAND NEW"   SD card.  'settings and tools'   /  'memory'  / 'card memory'   /  'format card' ...... it would not recognize the SD card until  I formatted it.

I then went to the 'main menu'  /  'settings and tools'  /  'memory'  /  'phone memory'  /
'move all to card'  ...... and it then transfered EVERYTHING to the new card.

I then defauted the phone.  Setting and tools  /  phone settings  /  security  / and use the last four digits of the phone number for the code.

Hope this helps some more.

I dropped my phone in water and my touch screen now doesn't respond to touch most of the time. If it does it goes to a random app. Would replacing my screen digitizer solve this problem? And I was on ebay looking at replacement screens and digitizers, and to be honest I just dont know what the difference is? Can someone help me please. Thanks!
