Thank you Axis.  Cool

I'm interested in Qualcomm and BREW since over 3 years.
So I have a little bit experience... but  Cry I have NO U960 to check few things self.

I will share my infos so good I can.

Can we make please an overview like this. Perfect would be as Text file for search...
but also Screenshots of BitPim are welcome.
Code:
.ui_fill
cfg
delete_log.dat
GrpDList ver 01.db
master_events.dat
mod
org_alarm.dat
RepeatEventDel.db
shared
user
yuv_data.bin
cfg\ab
cfg\browser
cfg\default
cfg\defaultpdp
cfg\devman
cfg\email
cfg\idle
cfg\internetprofiles

I use an Tool named vlist...

Then please mark folders/files which are protected?

NVM is clear. As it contains the NV items...

Are folders READ or WRITE protected? Also files...

For example to bypass read or write protection. On other models easy rename trick was possible.

WARNING!

Please except that all changes could lead into Bootcycle. That your handset is bricked... So extreme Caution and all on your own risk.

We should wait so long. Firmwareupdate can fix few problems. But without BIN you can't repair.

Best Regards

the majority of the interesting folders are read protected. the Brew folders particularly. The other trick I was hoping would work is to copy an empty cfg or other file into a locked/hidden folder, which on some other phones, unlocked/opened the folder. This doesn't work on my rogue yet...

I'll work on a list soon. Also, lists will vary depending on installed brew apps.

I can only tell. That for instance brew/mif folder is not important or interesting.

Backup of this folder is useless. As encrypted...

But there are several methods possible to try.

EFS is also known as "CEFS". There are Tools out. Which can read it like an Imager.
NV items are an part of EFS and stored in folder NVM.

I suggest again. Before not Firmware is leaked to have an chance to repair self.
No tests... as it could be to risky something to replace/move or delete...
Also dangerous to create folder with same name. As few folders are invisible...
Depend which subsys commands are used...

It is like Windows. System files/folders are under control of OS.
On running OS you can't play with such files...

On U960 it is called under control from AMSS. This is Qualcomm related.

Thank you for support.  Cool

I want access to the mod/mif files because they have a file that looks like the widgets in them. BREW is a tough egg to crack, so I'm hoping the widgets may be our way in to custom apps.

 Huh

If in MIF folder (normally) *.mif files.

Then forget these files... They are "useless". They are encrypted...

MIF contain Class ID, Icons and Settings for BREW App...

Better concentrate on files with extension:
*.BAR
*.SWF

Also files without extension could be interesting...

On R810 for instance is Flash the User Interface... See here:
http://www.samsung-finesse.com/general-discussion-on-htc-rhodium/time-to-drop-the-bomb!!!/

But I have no U960 nor Firmware nor files overview to help at the moment.

Best Regards

I guess the whole touchwiz UI and widgets could be a BREW app...

*.BAR files are also BREW related...
They are resources... could be Text/Settings... Pics, Videos...

I'm trying to get into the  brew/mod folders to play with the widgets, but also there are a few mod/folders that have .bar files, one I think is the mobile IM app. THe .bar(s) are named "aim" and "yahoo" etc. So these are likely the stylesheets for each im service within the IM app. hmmmm.
