I don't know how I missed this, but I just got the Social Beat app on my phone last night, and am in LOVE with it! I can't believe I missed this FREE app before! It's great for FB, Myspace, GMAIL and RSS.

It looks like a pretty good app.  Thanks for posting the info.  I'm on a 25MB per month plan, so I was wondering what kind of data usage the app accumulates over time.  I wonder if it would use less data than actually going on the mobile web to check each site separately.  FB, Gmail, and Twitter would be the only ones I would check using the app.

edit:
I just answered my own question.  It uses a LOT more data than just going online via the browser.  Probably not the best app for those who have a limited data plan like I do, but looks like a great app for those that have unlimited data.

8 times out of ten that I open it Social Beat restarts my phone. I really like the concept, it is a bit of a data hog; but I'm about to uninstall it now.
